Sliding Door Latch Bracket

Broward 112 · Florida motor yacht

A failed sliding-door latch bracket on a Broward 112 was reverse engineered, upgraded in CAD, machined in 316 stainless, delivered, and installed on the vessel — plus spare brackets for the owner.

Vessel type
Motor yacht (Broward 112 class)
Location
Florida
Material
316 stainless steel

Published vessel reference (owner-approved case study): M/Y Golden Eagle — Broward 112

Challenge

The sliding door latch bracket cracked in half in service. With no practical OEM replacement on the owner's timeline, the door could not be secured properly.

Engineering approach

The failed bracket was documented with photos and measurements, rebuilt in CAD from the damaged original, and upgraded for strength and service life while keeping the same mounting interfaces and door fit-up. A manufacturing-ready STEP model was produced for 316 stainless.

Result

The sliding door latch was returned to service with an upgraded 316 stainless bracket, spare parts on hand, and no modification to surrounding door structure. Engineering, manufacturing coordination, delivery, and installation were handled end to end.

The problem

The sliding door latch bracket cracked in half in service. With no practical OEM replacement on the owner's timeline, the door could not be secured properly.

Inspection & measurement

The failed bracket was documented with photos and measurements — including scale references — so the original geometry and mounting layout could be recovered from the broken part.

Engineering approach

We rebuilt the part in CAD from the damaged original, then improved the design for strength and service life while keeping the same mounting interfaces and door fit-up.

CAD & documentation

A manufacturing-ready STEP model was produced for the upgraded bracket in 316 stainless, with geometry verified against the original mounting pattern.

Material, process & manufacturing support

The replacement bracket was machined in 316 stainless steel through manufacturing coordination, along with two spare brackets so the owner could keep extras on hand.

Delivery & installation

Coast Dynamix delivered the finished brackets and installed the replacement on the vessel — not just drawings and CAD, but the completed part back in service on the boat.

Verification & result

The sliding door latch was returned to service with an upgraded 316 stainless bracket, spare parts on hand, and no modification to surrounding door structure. Engineering, manufacturing, delivery, and installation — handled end to end.

Materials & processes

  • 316 stainless steel
  • CNC machining (partner fabrication)
